Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This page is maintained by the SeeEat team to explain what data the app collects and how we handle it. It is not a legal certification.

1. What we collect

  • Account: email address, optional display name, avatar.
  • Menu scans: the photo of the menu you capture, the AI-extracted dish names, the restaurant name we detect, and the approximate GPS coordinates at the moment of the scan.
  • Ratings: star ratings, optional text comments, and optional real-dish photos you upload.
  • Technical: browser/device basics for error diagnostics.

2. Why we collect it

  • To identify the restaurant near you (GPS).
  • To read the menu and find dish photos (menu image + third-party providers).
  • To save your scans and ratings so you can revisit them.

3. Third parties we use

  • Supabase / Lovable Cloud — database, authentication, storage.
  • Google Maps Platform — restaurant discovery and photos.
  • Firecrawl — retrieving public dish photos from restaurant websites, TripAdvisor and Booking.com.
  • Google Gemini via Lovable AI Gateway — menu OCR, photo verification, fallback image generation.

We do not sell your data. We do not run ad tracking.

4. Location

Location is only read when you tap Scan. It is used to query Google Places and is stored alongside the scan so you can find it later on a map. You can revoke camera and location permissions at any time in your browser or system settings.

5. Your rights

You can view all of your saved menus, ratings, and photos from the Library page. You can delete any menu individually, or delete your entire account (which permanently removes your profile, scans, ratings, and uploaded photos) from Account settings.

6. Data retention

Data is retained as long as your account is active. Deleting a menu removes its dishes and ratings; deleting your account removes everything within 30 days.
